Watching tiny plants first emerge from the soil is for me the most exciting part of creating a garden. It can also be the trickiest.
Seeds are ideally started in particular type of soil, at a certain depth, within a specific temperature and humidity range, and with a unique watering and light routine. While the properties and requirements of each seed are different, there is a lot of overlap.
I created this visualization with a color wheel in mind, where plants that are the most similar sit next to each other. Working your way inward, you can see their various common traits.
